Blogs written by atheists, shit anything written by atheists, used to be few and far between. Now, thanks to the likes of Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, Sam Harris et al, atheism is much more mainstream, not just in the 'real world' but here in cyberspace also. With the likes of The Atheist Blogroll and Planet Atheism and the countless other unsung atheists out there, it appears that Richard Dawkins consciousness raising is certainly gaining pace.
I am under no allusion that my own humble offering is anything more than a mere drop in the ocean in the great scheme of things, having said that the two blogrolls mentioned above (as well as many others) have done a sterling job of collecting some of those small drops and making them available to a wider audience.
In order to show my appreciation and in some small way reward those that I feel deserve recognition (and by reward I obviously mean something that will cost me absolutely nothing!) I have come up with this:
The idea is for me to use this logo where I feel it is appropriate to highlight a particular post, person or issue that I feel is worthy of acclaim. Those that have this award bestowed are welcome to use the image on their site or blog (no hotlinking obviously!) and I will continue to update this particular post as names are added to it.
I will apologise in advance for not awarding this to every atheist blogger in existence, you do deserve this simply by virtue of being an atheist blogger in my book. If you strongly believe that you should be considered then please feel free to leave a comment with a link to your particular blog or post and I will certainly take it into consideration. Heck, even if you're not an atheist blogger and wish to be considered just leave your details in the comments.
